Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
My World Race is over. I’ve journeyed to Nepal, India, Thailand, Cambodia, Swaziland, South Africa, Botswana, Romania, Moldova, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. God has blessed me immensely. I trekked in the “foothills” of the Himalayas, I named a baby in a rural Indian village, I explored ancient temples in Cambodia, I went on an African safari, I toured thousand year old cathedrals in Eastern Europe, and in Central America I hiked a volcano and roasted marshmallows at its base. God has also worked through me in ways I would have never thought possible before the world race. I stood arm in arm with a Nepali woman and felt the darkness recede as we interceded on behalf of the city of Kathmandu. I taught English to hundreds of kids in Thailand, I learned to play guitar and started leading worship for our squad. I spoke truth boldly into the lives of my teammates. I held countless children, prayed for countless men and women, preached and shared my story all around the world.
I’m so amazed and humbled by all that God did in me and through me in the past year. He sharpened me, chipped away at my pride (sometimes knocked whole blocks off), and molded me. He transformed me month by month to be more like Him. The Lord has broken off so many chains. I like and love myself more than ever before. I know who I am, and am secure in my identity in Christ. I am more free than ever and God has stirred up dreams, desires, and passions within me. He has a purpose and a plan to use them, and use me, for His glory and for the advancement of His Kingdom.
One of those dreams is to pursue music, song writing, and leading worship. I’ve loved making music my entire life but for a long time doubted that God really wanted to work through me in that way. However on the race God made it very clear that I am built to sing, to play instruments, and to lead others in worship.
I’ve been accepted to Adventures in Missions’ Center for Global Action (CGA), a program that combines discipleship courses and groups, community living, office apprenticeship, and specific interest training to further equip world race alumni. I will be moving to Gainesville, Georgia in September and participating in the worship track of CGA, meaning that my specific training will be in worship. I won’t be getting voice lessons or have someone teaching me how to compose scores. I got enough of that in college. The worship track at CGA provides an atmosphere for me to blossom into a heart of worship where I will also be challenged to grow.
God has made it really clear to me that this is my next step. I need to raise $7,450 to participate in CGA for two semesters. This covers all courses, housing, and food. I realize that some of you may be reluctant to donate because this isn’t a “mission trip.” I’m not leaving the country and its unlikely that I’ll be hugging orphans and praying with prostitutes on the daily. Let me reassure you that wherever in the world I am is going to be my mission field. I am going to share the love of God in Gainesville, Georgia and if I find orphans to hug and prostitutes to pray with you can bet I’m going for it. CGA is going to further transform me into the likeness of Christ and I am confident that this is where he wants me next.
I can’t do it without your help! You can donate by clicking the orange “Support Me!” button at the top of this page or mail a check to LeAnn Wright P.O. Box 197, Waynesburg, Ky, 40489.
I trust God to provide and I trust you to be a part of His provision if you are able.
love love love, LeAnn Wright
